Hulu is Producing a Far Cry TV Series from the Producers of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The latest Far Cry game that gamers experienced was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and was released during October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for delighting in chaos and mayhem with similar enthusiasm, all while weaving engaging, ideologically themed stories. No wonder then that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry seasonal program pulled in two creators whose projects have represented all of those elements.
About the Series
Adapted from Ubisoft's successful video game series, the limited anthology series will be available on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The anthology will also follow the video games' style by featuring a different setting and cast of characters in subsequent series.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as executive producers on the series via their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had excellent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is fresh, engrossing, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our associates at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this beloved property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also feature in the show, but at the time of writing, we have no details on what role that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just renewed for a second instalment, with FX and Disney signing a new overall deal with the producer.
“Having the opportunity alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably supportive, trusting us with one of the most iconic video-game universes ever created. And through it all, my FX partners constantly supports me with their steady belief and support.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an standalone show. Every instalment is a interpretation of a theme, the same way every run of Fargo is a adaptation on a theme,” noted Hawley. “To produce a large-scale action show that can change from one instalment to the next, while always examining the core of humanity through this multifaceted and turbulent perspective, is a ultimate goal. I’m excited to work with Rob and present our common irreverent, daring sensibility to the audience.”
A schedule for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
