Iranian Forces State Attack on American Facility in Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and continuing attack against it by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity in the area of the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any destruction is not yet known and the American officials has not commented.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - reported they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck sites linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces said it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," the statement continued.
It said missile fragments landed in a populated district in the capital, resulting in some material damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
