Nearly 55,000 homes have reportedly been impacted by the rains, with their belongings and dwellings destroyed.

Persistent rains over the last seven days have intensified the extremely difficult circumstances of the vast number of uprooted residents in the region, according to relief agencies.

"Awful" Conditions Brings Severe Dangers

A spokesman characterized the weather overnight as "horrendous", with precipitation so intense that around 15cm (6in) of water accumulated on the ground.

"Last night was truly horrendous for the residents. The downpours were so intense... And the gusts were so strong," stated the representative.

There is extreme anxiety that minors residing in tents in soaked clothing will contract hypothermia and various sicknesses.

Fatalities and Extensive Damage

Medical officials have reported that one baby has succumbed from exposure and at least 11 other people have been killed in structural failures due to the storms.

Additional accounts suggest a higher death toll. Officials reported that several homes had fully given way and dozens had sustained partial collapse.

  • Almost 55,000 families affected by rains.
  • More than 40 designated safe spaces submerged.
  • Countless residents compelled to move once more.

Aid Efforts Seen as Insufficient

Organizations have increased distribution of tarpaulins, bedding and clothes since the ceasefire began, but they emphasize there is continues to be not enough aid getting in.

"Agencies are working relentlessly to deliver that aid and to distribute it, but the size of the necessities is so immense that we still have thousands of people and children who are really struggling nightly," cautioned one representative.

Long-Term Challenges and Truce Plans

The next stage of the truce includes plans for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with political arrangements, the withdrawal of troops, and other terms.

Relief groups have underscored the imperative for "expanded and ongoing aid to respond to pressing and ongoing requirements."

The conflict was sparked by an offensive in the autumn of 2023. Subsequent military operations have caused a significant number of fatalities in the area, as per medical data.
